First-time college-goers are experiencing huge life changes this time of year. With a heads up from the New York Times health news, I found that PsychCentral has developed a nice, detailed list of articles for the college-bound about ways to make the transition work – very practical advice on topics, including the (yikes) difficult roommate. Another good article looks at the special stresses of the summer before college begins. One unique perspective is that the articles include issues for both the student and the parent (one evocative title was “The College Drop-Off and The Long Drive Home”). The transition to college is one of the biggest life-events in our culture – it pays to be prepared for success. Check it out!
